Mr. Mora was mowing grass between rows of orchard trees when
a fire started on the mower that was attached to the power take-off on the back
of his tractor. Mr. Mora raised the
mower and began to drive as quickly as he good to the nearest water supply to
extinguish the fire. Mr. Mora lost
control of the tractor as he tried to both drive it and avoid being burned by
the growing fire. He fell from the
tractor, the mower rolled over him – cutting off his leg and castrating him in
the process.
We inspected the accident scene, tractor, and mower to
determine the source of the fuel for the fire and the ignition source. Our investigation ended prior to being
completed.
